Founded by Albus Dumbledore
Secret organization dedicated to fighting Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Named for Dumbledore's phoenix, Fawkes. Formed during the First Wizarding War (1970s), disbanded after Voldemort's first defeat (1981), then reformed when he returned (1995).

Student Defense Organization
Secret student group formed in Harry's fifth year (1995-1996) to learn practical Defense Against the Dark Arts after the Ministry installed Dolores Umbridge as a useless teacher. Named "Dumbledore's Army" both as tribute and to annoy the Ministry.
Formation
Hermione Granger organized it. Harry Potter taught. Met secretly in the Room of Requirement. Used fake Galleons (enchanted by Hermione) to communicate meeting times.

Department of Mysteries
Six D.A. members (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Ginny, Luna) fought Death Eaters to protect the prophecy. All survived but were injured.
Hogwarts Resistance
With Harry gone, Neville, Ginny, and Luna led D.A. resistance against Snape's regime and the Carrows. Used Room of Requirement as hideout.
Battle of Hogwarts
D.A. members formed core of student defenders. Many fought bravely; some died. Their training saved lives.

Lord Voldemort's Followers
Dark wizards and witches who followed Lord Voldemort in his quest for pure-blood supremacy and immortality. Marked with the Dark Mark on their left forearms. Wore black robes and masks during attacks.
The Dark Mark
A skull with a snake protruding from its mouth like a tongue. Burned into Death Eaters' skin. Voldemort could summon them by touching any Death Eater's Mark. Cast into the sky with "Morsmordre" spell after killings.

The Ministry of Magic is the government of magical Britain. Located underground in London, accessible via telephone booth entrance or Floo Network. Led by the Minister for Magic.

Studies deepest magical secrets. Workers called "Unspeakables." Contains:

Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare. Founded by Hermione to fight house-elf enslavement. Had three members (Hermione, Ron, Harry). House-elves found it insulting.
Potterwatch
Underground resistance radio show during Voldemort's regime. Hosts: Lee Jordan (River), Fred Weasley (Rapier), Remus Lupin (Romulus), Kingsley (Royal). Provided truthful war news.
Council of Magical Law
Precursor to Wizengamot. Passed laws including werewolf restrictions that affected Remus Lupin's employment.
International Confederation of Wizards
Global magical government organization. Dumbledore removed as Supreme Mugwump by Fudge. Bans certain creatures and practices internationally.
Slug Club
Not formal organization but social club run by Horace Slughorn. Collected talented and well-connected students. Tom Riddle was member. Harry joined reluctantly.
The Power of Organization
The Second Wizarding War was ultimately won not by any single person, but by organized resistance. The Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore's Army showed that cooperation, loyalty, and shared purpose could overcome even the darkest magic.
The Death Eaters had power and fear, but they lacked true loyalty - most served Voldemort out of terror or ambition, not love. The Order served because they believed in something greater than themselves.
