Setting: Little Hangleton, 50 years ago and present day

Date: August 1994

Key Events:

• Overhears Voldemort (in rudimentary body) plotting with Wormtail and another servant

• Harry wakes from nightmare with his scar hurting

Characters Introduced: Frank Bryce, Voldemort (weak form), mention of Bertha Jorkins

Significant Details: First chapter not from Harry's perspective. Voldemort has a body (weak) and is plotting something at Hogwarts. Wormtail is his servant. The murder of Bertha Jorkins is mentioned.

Chapters 2-7: The Burrow & The World Cup

Chapter 2 - The Scar: Harry writes to Sirius about his scar pain and dream. Dursleys terrified by letter delivered by Fred, George, and Ron via Floo powder (blocking fireplace).

Chapter 3 - The Invitation: Weasleys rescue Harry by destroying the fireplace. Dudley eats Ton-Tongue Toffee (Fred and George's invention). Harry goes to the Burrow.

Chapter 7 - Bagman and Crouch: Tour the campsite. Meet Ludo Bagman (jovial) and Barty Crouch Sr. (stern). Fred and George bet on the match outcome with Bagman. Tent is bigger on inside. Meet foreign wizards.

Journey to Hogwarts

Chapter 10 - Mayhem at the Ministry: Mr. Weasley explains Ministry chaos. Death Eaters revealed they claimed Imperius Curse controlled them. Bertha Jorkins still missing.

Chapter 11 - Aboard the Hogwarts Express: Draco taunts about Hermione's Muggle-born status. Learn about the Triwizard Tournament. Only students 17+ can enter.

Chapter 12 - The Triwizard Tournament:

• Start-of-term feast announces the Triwizard Tournament
• Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students will arrive Halloween
• New DADA teacher: Mad-Eye Moody (famous Auror)

Chapter 13 - Mad-Eye Moody:

Chapter 16 - The Goblet of Fire:

Building to the Final

Chapter 28 - The Madness of Mr. Crouch:

• Harry fetches Dumbledore; returns to find Krum stunned, Crouch gone
• Mystery deepens about Crouch and his son

Chapter 29 - The Dream: Harry dreams of Voldemort torturing Wormtail. Scar hurts badly. Tells Dumbledore. Third Task approaches: maze on Quidditch pitch.

The Third Task

Chapter 30 - The Pensieve: Harry discovers Dumbledore's memories in Pensieve. Sees trials of Death Eaters including Karkaroff (turned informant) and Barty Crouch Jr. (sentenced by his own father).

Chapter 31 - The Third Task:

• Champions enter maze; must reach Triwizard Cup in center
• Harry and Cedric lead after first two tasks
• Maze filled with obstacles: Blast-Ended Skrewts, Acromantula, Boggart, Sphinx
• Krum attacks Cedric under Imperius Curse
• Harry and Cedric reach Cup together; agree to tie

• Cup is a Portkey; transports them to graveyard

Significant Details: The entire tournament was rigged to get Harry to the Cup. Someone planning this all year.

The Graveyard

Chapter 32 - Flesh, Blood, and Bone:

• Little Hangleton graveyard (Riddle family)
• Wormtail kills Cedric on Voldemort's orders
• Harry bound to Tom Riddle's gravestone
• Wormtail performs ritual to restore Voldemort's body
• "Bone of the father, unknowingly given"

• Priori Incantatem effect: ghosts emerge from Voldemort's wand

Chapter 36 - The Parting of the Ways:

• Dementor performs Kiss on Crouch Jr. (destroying evidence)
• Dumbledore rebuilds the Order of the Phoenix

Chapter 37 - The Beginning:

• End-of-year feast; Dumbledore announces Cedric was murdered by Voldemort
• Tells students the truth despite Ministry wishes
• Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students depart
• Harry, Ron, Hermione discuss summer plans
• Know they face war ahead
• "We're with you whatever happens"

Significant Details: Ministry denial will cause problems. Cedric's death marks the end of innocence. The wizarding world is divided. Voldemort is back and has his Death Eaters. The Order of the Phoenix is reforming.
