A Peck of Owls

The Advance Guard

Significant Details: The Black family was pure-blood supremacists. Sirius was disowned for rejecting their values. The Order is protecting something at the Ministry of Magic.

Significant Details: The weapon Voldemort seeks can only be retrieved by certain people. The Ministry is conducting a smear campaign against Harry and Dumbledore. The Daily Prophet is controlled by the Ministry.

The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black

Setting: Grimmauld Place

• Harry's hearing is scheduled for 8:00 AM
• More cleaning of Grimmauld Place reveals dark objects
• They find a locket that won't open (later revealed as significant)
• The Black family tree tapestry shows pure-blood lineage

• Sirius's mother Walburga was a fanatic pure-blood supremacist

Significant Details: The Black family tapestry shows connections between many pure-blood families. The locket that won't open is Slytherin's (though not identified yet). Kreacher is deeply loyal to the Black family values, not Sirius.

The Ministry of Magic

Luna Lovegood

Detention with Dolores

The Eye of the Snake

Setting: Hogwarts Castle

Occlumency

The Centaur and the Sneak

Snape's Worst Memory

• The Ministry appears deserted at night

• Harry finds a prophecy labeled with his and Voldemort's names
• He picks it up and can now remove it from its shelf
• Death Eaters appear - it was a trap

Significant Details: Only the subjects of a prophecy can remove it from the shelf. Voldemort lured Harry there to retrieve it. The Death Eaters have been waiting. Sirius is not there - Harry was deceived.

Career Advice

Setting: Department of Mysteries

• Battle in the Department of Mysteries begins
• Six students fight twelve Death Eaters
• They flee through various chambers: Time Room, Brain Room, Death Chamber
• The prophecy is broken during the fight

Out of the Fire

• Umbridge is removed from Hogwarts
• McGonagall returns from St. Mungo's

• The wizarding world mobilizes against Voldemort

• But Sirius is dead and Harry grieves deeply

Significant Details: The Ministry's denial ends. War is openly acknowledged. Harry's testimony is finally believed. But the cost was Sirius's life. Harry inherits Grimmauld Place and Kreacher.

Fight and Flight
