🧹 Argus Filch
Argus Filch was the caretaker of Hogwarts, a bitter Squib who seemed to hate students and enjoyed punishing them.
🚫 Squib Status
Filch was a Squib - born to magical parents but without powers:
- Could not perform magic
- Took a Kwikspell course to try to learn
- Resented magical students
- Felt inferior and bitter
🐱 Mrs. Norris
Filch's constant companion was Mrs. Norris, a skeletal gray cat:
- Patrolled the corridors
- Seemed to communicate with Filch
- Students believed she could detect rule-breaking
- Was Petrified by the Basilisk but later cured
😤 Punishments
Filch longed for the old days when students were hung by chains from the ceiling. He kept shackles in his office hopefully. Under Umbridge, he was allowed to use corporal punishment and was gleeful.
⚔️ Battle of Hogwarts
Despite being unable to fight magically, Filch helped during the battle by evacuating students and securing the castle.
