Tactical Applications

- Law enforcement operations
- Self-defense situations
- Magical creature control
- Training exercises
Power and Resistance
The effectiveness of Stupefy depends on the caster's power and the target's resistance:
- Single Stunner may be insufficient for large or magically resistant creatures
- Dragons typically require 6+ simultaneous Stunners
- Giants have high natural resistance
- Powerful wizards can cast stronger versions
- Multiple casters can combine efforts for difficult targets
Counter and Defense
Protection against Stunning Spells:
- Shield Charm (Protego) can deflect
- Physical obstacles block the spell
- Dodging the visible red light
- Counter-spell or similar defensive magic
Reviving Stunned Victims
A stunned person can be revived through:
- Rennervate spell (counter-charm)
- Medical attention
- Natural recovery over time
Legal Status
Stupefy is completely legal when used appropriately for self-defense or authorized law enforcement. Unauthorized use on individuals may result in legal consequences depending on circumstances.
Training Recommendations
Students should practice:
- Accuracy - hitting moving targets
- Speed of casting
- Power control for appropriate force
- Non-verbal casting for advanced users
Safety Notes
While generally safe, repeated stunning can cause disorientation and temporary confusion. Care should be taken with elderly or frail targets.
