The Whomping Willow is a violent tree on the Hogwarts grounds that attacks anything that comes near it.

- Thrashes branches violently
- Attacks anything in reach
- Very dangerous
- Has a knot that freezes it
🐺 Purpose
Planted when Remus Lupin came to Hogwarts:
- Hides tunnel to Shrieking Shack
- Lupin used tunnel during full moons
- Pressing knot freezes tree
- Allowed safe passage
🚗 Notable Incidents
- 1992: Ron and Harry crashed Mr. Weasley's flying car into it
- 1994: Sirius dragged Ron through the tunnel
